Sup neighbors 😎. So our Earth Day post fell on 4/20 this year, which feels like Mother Nature’s way of saying: y’all better chill out and clean up lol.
So in honor of Earth Day, we figured it was the perfect time to start shifting the energy in our closets. You know, clear out the fast fashion ghosts of seasons past and lean into something that feels more aligned with our solarpunk values—reuse, repurpose, reclaim.
So we pulled up to one of Shi’s favorite consignment store, Current Boutique in Arlington, VA to drop off a few gently-loved gems. But bruh… they didn’t accept any of our clothes. Not one. Apparently our taste is just too ahead of the curve (or maybe the trend cycle is broken, wdk).
But like any good solarpunks, we pivoted. Explored some other circular alternatives and then did what any reasonable person would do after being humbled by a resale counter: we grabbed a drink 🥃.
Circular economy doesn’t always go the way you expect, but the vision stays the same. It’s about keeping stuff in use longer, building community through shared resources, and breaking up with landfill culture. Whether it’s through thrift, trade, or just giving your clothes a second (or third) life, it’s all part of reimagining value.
And hey—if anyone does wanna shop Shi’s closet, drop a comment below and we’ll make it happen. We got color, character, and a few vintage finds that deserve another walk down U Street, or AdMo.
Stay punk, stay green, and wherever you are—happy 420 and Earth Day :)

In Austin, a woman has created an organization that collects clothing, shoes and accessories. She and volunteers sort for the free fridge, items for local charities and she sells some of the nicer items. Her space is curated like a second hand boutique and most items are $3 a piece. It’s become a favorite place to volunteer and donate
